| PatchLink Delivers Next Generation Enterprise Ready Solution |
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - April 30, 2007 - PatchLink Corporation, the global leader in security and vulnerability management solutions, today announced the availability of PatchLink Update™ 6.4, a policy-oriented architecture that enables organizations to cost-effectively manage and control their valuable IT resources while protecting their networks against increasing threats. Today's threat landscape has evolved from random attacks to financially motivated cybercrime with a far greater impact on business. Last year alone, more than 8,000 vulnerabilities were reported, with a 75 percent increase in Windows-related vulnerabilities, while flaws in the Macintosh platform increased by 228 percent. Businesses are looking to adopt more efficient, cost-effective, policy-oriented processes and technologies to help eliminate security weaknesses. PatchLink is launching its next-generation, enterprise-ready solution to help organizations effectively manage and maintain the integrity of their IT infrastructure.
PatchLink Update 6.4 enables enterprises to manage the entire vulnerability management lifecycle through a simplified and automated integration with Microsoft Active Directory. The new solution includes advanced grouping capabilities to help manage security policies across large enterprises, while enabling for easier management of remediation deployments and improved dashboards for policy compliance.
"Mature enterprises realize that in order to effectively secure their network defenses, they must be able to visualize their infrastructure, understand their security posture, and determine where they're most at risk. To do this cost-effectively, solutions must be geared to monitoring and enforcing predefined security policies," said Charles Kolodgy, research director at IDC. "PatchLink Update 6.4 goes a long way toward meeting this need by allowing enterprises to maintain control over their IT assets, establish mandatory baselines, enforce internal and external policies, demonstrate compliance and most importantly, prevent against attacks."
Version 6.4 enables organizations to mitigate corporate risks, reduce operational costs, and improve productivity with the following features and benefits:
Microsoft Active Directory Integration
Leverages existing infrastructure by seamlessly integrating with existing Active Directory environments to create dynamic groups for establishing mandatory baselines, enforcing policies and reporting on policy compliance. Using PatchLink Update, administrators can dynamically create the Active Directory tree structure based on the existing Active Directory environments which quickly defines group names and group membership. The administrators can now define patch baselines, agent polices, and role-based administration at the OU level and these policies can be cascaded down to each OU for ease of management.
Nested Groups
Improves productivity while maintaining network security by easily setting up groups and delegating remediation and reporting activities. Advanced grouping capabilities helps manage security policy options across large enterprises. Administrators can create hierarchical relationships that can be used to define inherited group membership and manage at the Parent level of a group to define patch baselines, agent policies, and role-based administration. These polices can now be cascaded down to the child group for ease of management.
Broad Platform Support
PatchLink Update 6.4 expands its world's largest reporting of platform and application to include support for Microsoft's latest operating system Windows Vista. PatchLink is using Windows Vista's user experience to increase productivity during large deployments. Using New PatchLink Notification Manager, administrators can now manage all packages through a single Notification Manager and continuously monitor package status to ensure all systems, servers and laptops are patched and compliant.
"In today's global IT environment, it is essential that enterprises can easily establish and enforce global security policies to ensure they remain compliant and protect their network against more sophisticated threats and targeted attacks," said Kate Hare, vice president of product management at PatchLink. "PatchLink continues to innovate on its proven solution to ensure its customers can mitigate risks and remediate vulnerabilities quicker and in a cost-effective manner."
